God

It began … “I believe God is a Woman…” and my heart stopped. Just for a moment as I caught my breathe I listened to the melodic baritone of a man whose words echoed what I feel in my soul. That melody holds just enough base to give his words that sincere force that says simply “listen… this could be important.” He spoke nothing blasphemous, nothing that shook my faith as a Christian. There was nothing that caved in my ideological belief system just a simple truth.
God is a woman. Not because I disbelieve in Christ, but because there is something innately feminine about faith, a quiet strength in mercy, and beauty in forgiveness. These are all the things God is. A while back I had Marc Marcel in the sidebar as the writer or the month. I’ve never met or spoken to him, but in his poetry I sense a kindred spirit. This is a short post because it is his words that deserve the attention. Listen carefully and understand why we both believe God is a woman. This is the poetry I wish I could write.
